Old flames, first love and all that valentine’s nostalgia. Regardless of your relationship status, love is for everyone and is the perfect reason to celebrate everything that makes you happy – including the way you look!
On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, Chandrika Mahendra, Principal Scientist, R&D, The Himalaya Drug Company shares a few interesting ideas to help you celebrate beauty with love.
Wear a Natural Smile – A natural lip balm with a tint of red for soft, supple and shiny lips is sure to lift your mood up.
V-Day Tip: A DIY scrub early morning with almond oil and sugar crystals will ensure your lips are smooth and supple throughout the day.
Pure Skin Facial – A regular routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing (CTM) will remove impurities like dust and pollution. Use a gentle scrub to exfoliate dead skin, blackheads and clogged pores. Follow it up with a moisturizing face pack to reveal pure and soft skin and then get ready with a fresh face after that facewash.
V-Day Tip: Remove the face pack after 10 minutes to retain your skin’s natural moisture.
Bring Hair Alive – Try a DIY home spa, a day before Valentine’s Day. Massage your scalp with a herbal hair oil followed by a warm towel wrap. It helps the oil penetrate deeper into your hair for extra nourishment. Wash your hair with herbal shampoo and conditioner to remove the oil. End this routine with herbal hair cream on your scalp and strands of your hair. Massage gently and wash it off after 15 minutes.
V-Day Tip: Moisturize your strands with a herbal detangler. It will add shine and smoothness to rough and brittle hair.
Define your eyes naturally – Keep your eyes hydrated with a herbal kajal. Apply it gently on your eyelid for bright and attractive eyes.
V-Day Tip: Dust some powder under your eye skin before applying the Kajal, it helps in absorbing excess oil.
The Purest Feeling – You wouldn’t want flaky skin to upset your mood. Use a creamy lotion to moisturize your skin from head to toe.
V-Day Tip: Treat your skin to a luxurious body lotion immediately after bathing. Your skin will absorb the lotion faster and stay moisturized for long.
Sparkling Smile – Nothing can beat a sparkling white smile, especially on occasions like this. It showcases confidence, positive attitude and happiness.
V-Day Tip: A non-chemical bleach toothpaste with natural enzymes will help you get whiter teeth. Enzymes present in Papaya called papain and in Pineapple called bromelain act as mild whitening agents that safely remove stains, making them sparkling white.
Compliment your perfect look with a fresh floral scent. The fragrance is sure to make your moment perfect!

The Trench coat is the most versatile piece of clothing that can be teamed up with pretty much everything. Be it rain, wind or shine, trench coats are a closet must – have for every girl. Whether you pick a classic khaki style or opt for one with modern updates, the result will always be timeless and chic. Here are a few tips you can keep in mind when opting to wear the trench coat:
1 – With the winter season still lingering around on and off, you can opt for the layered look with the trench coat. There are a variety of options in terms of fabric so try out the lighter ones that look stylish and keeps you warm too.
2 – Jeans, leggings, dresses or even shorts, you can team the trench coat with pretty much everything.
3 – Trench coat teamed up with your office wear works well too. Don a formal look with a trouser and a shirt and then wear the trench coat around and team it up with a pair of heels. It is sure to make heads turn.
4 – You can also wear the trench coat with your favorite pair of skinny jeans and a t-shirt and a stylish pair of pumps. Just add the right pair of shades and strut through the streets.
5 – You can definitely NOT wear the trench coat on an Indian wear. Although if you are slim and trim, the trench coat can make you look classy when teamed with a sari.

Subtly seductive and impactful, “Marsala”, as said by the colour forecasters has been the pantone colour of the year, 2015. Marsala is an intense shade of brownish wine mixed with a hint of rust. The colour has a rich, earthy appeal. This colour being extremely versatile, can be used in all possible fabrics like leather, wool and silk in winter and linen, cotton or even lighter fabrics during summer.
